Geneva climbed into a three-way tie for first place in the PAC standings on Wednesday night with a hard-fought 70-68 win over Thiel at the Metheny Field House. In a back-and-forth ball game that came down to the waning seconds, the Golden Tornadoes outlasted the Tomcats thanks in part to a game-high 25 points by senior Lyle Tipton. The reigning PAC Player of the Year helped the GT’s prevail with 9-of-10 shooting from the free-throw line and six rebounds. Adding two blocks and an assist, Tipton was named the Foster Law Offices Player of the Game.
