The Thiel Tomcats earned their first win of the season on Tuesday night with an exciting 55-53 triumph at Waynesburg. Senior forward Destiny Johnson powered the Tomcats and finished just three steals shy of a triple-double. After setting Thiel’s single-game record for rebounds (28) in a loss to Geneva last week, Johnson continued her hot start to the season with a 34-point, 23-rebound effort. Leading 55-53 with 15 seconds left, Johnson and the Tomcats staved off two final shot attempts by Waynesburg in the waning seconds to prevail. For her efforts, Johnson was named the Foster Law Offices Player of the Game.
