Men’s Basketball – W&J
#23 J.R. Mazza
6-2 Sophomore Guard
Stat Line: 21 points, 5-for-11 on 3-pointers
The W&J Presidents set a new single-season program record for wins (23) and did it with a PAC semifinal victory over Waynesburg, 66-61. The top-seeded Presidents were put to the test by fifth-seeded Waynesburg and were tied 53-53 with 8:30 remaining before J.R. Mazza knocked down a 3-pointer to give W&J the lead. While the game stayed close throughout, the Presidents led the rest of the way to earn the right to host their first PAC championship game since the 2007-2008 season. With a knack for timely big plays, every time Waynesburg delivered a big shot Mazza seemingly always had the answer for W&J. Finishing with a game-high 21 points and five treys, Mazza was the PAC Sports Network’s selection as Foster Law Offices Player of the Game.
