Ahead of a first-place showdown with W&J this upcoming Wednesday, the Chatham Cougars maintained their position at the top of the standings on Saturday with an 83-51 blowout of Bethany. The tone was set on the very first shot of the game as junior Brandon Lavernia buried a 3-pointer, initiating a 14-1 run to start the ballgame. Lavernia totaled a team-high 17 points and was sharp from beyond the arc, pouring in 5-of-6 attempts from 3-point land. For his efforts, Lavernia was named the Foster Law Offices Player of the Game by the PAC Sports Network.
