Stat Line: 22 points, 10-of-19 on field goals, 11 rebounds
The second-seeded Saint Vincent Bearcats welcomed the sixth-seeded Westminster Titans on Wednesday night in the PAC women’s basketball semi-finals. The Titans took down the third-seeded Grove City Wolverines while the Bearcats toppled the seventh-seeded Bethany Bison in their Monday night matchups to set up the mid-week showdown. Early on, the leads seesawed between the two teams with Saint Vincent holding a slim three-point lead heading into the second quarter. Senior center Ella Marconi got the party started early for the Bearcats, scoring four of the team’s first six points in the opening quarter. Westminster responded defensively and held Marconi scoreless until three minutes to go in the second quarter. After the break, Saint Vincent turned up the volume offensively, outscoring Westminster 14-6 in the third quarter alone. Marconi contributed seven of the 14 third quarter points, and Saint Vincent carried a slim three-point lead heading into the fourth. The Bearcats held on in the end, and came out victorious 52-45 for their third PAC Championship appearance in the last five seasons. They last captured a PAC title in the COVID-19 abbreviated season in 2021, defeating Washington & Jefferson, 65-61. Marconi finished with a team-high 22 points and added 11 rebounds on 10-for-19 shooting from the field. For her performance, Marconi was named the Foster Law Office Player of the Game.
