The long-standing rivalry between Geneva and Westminster lived up to the expectations, as the Golden Tornadoes came away with a road victory over the Titans, 99-94, on Wednesday. After a back-and-forth first half that featured Westminster taking a brief three point lead, Geneva went into the break leading 43-34. The Golden Tornadoes offense continued to thrive in the second half, as sophomore Trevor Tipton’s 3-point shooting grew the lead to 55-44. The Titans battled back, overcoming a 13-point deficit to force overtime. Tipton’s scoring never slowed down, as he connected on three of his eight treys for the night in the extra period. Tipton’s sealed the win with two free throws in the final ten seconds to finish out a 28-point performance. Tipton shot 9-of-19 from the floor and was 8-for-14 from beyond the arc. Adding five rebounds and two assists, Tipton was tabbed the Foster Law Offices Player of the Game by the PAC Sports Network.
