In a wild finish at Geneva on Saturday, the senior leadership of Heidi Mann helped guide the Golden Tornadoes to an 81-79 win over the Thiel Tomcats. Leading by 16 points with just over five minutes to play, it appeared Geneva would cruise to its fifth conference win of the season. However, Thiel staged an incredible comeback and took a 79-78 lead with 18 seconds remaining. While it was freshman Callie Ford who sunk the game winning free throws for Geneva, the steady hand of Mann was paramount when it seemed that victory had slipped away. Mann finished with a team-high 21 points and four steals in the victory. For her play and leadership, Mann was selected as the Foster Law Offices Player of the Game. The PAC Sports Network’s Rob Longo talked with Mann following the contest.
