In game filled with errors by both teams, it was a stellar play by W&J sophomore right fielder Nick Vento that saved the game for W&J. After building a 6-1 lead by the third inning, W&J saw Thomas More inch back into the game with a chance to tie in the bottom of the seventh. On a base hit by Marcus Woelfel, TMC’s Zach Fardo’s was chugging home as the potential game tying run but was thrown out on a dart throw from Vento to end the inning and preserve a 6-5 lead. The Presidents would hang on for the victory by that same score.
